The tables (or in this case, the doors) have turned. ShadowShot is knocked off his assassin’s perch by DarkWulf’s sudden and unexpected moves.
This shifts the momentum for both LadyDarke + Wulf and for ShadowShot. Both parties were attempting to approach their respective situations with stealth, agility, and concealment. Now all bets are off and they’ll be forced to “Leroy Jenkins” it from here on out. This is where the fun begins!
Big lettering and a looseness to Samir’s style on this page tilt the vibes toward something like “action cartoony.” It reminds me of Archie’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures series or their early ’90s Impact Comics line. Not quite Big Two superhero standard, but rather something a little left of center from that.
I love all the little details Samir put into the tree- its limbs, tiny branches, swirling bark, etc.
It’s interesting to come back to this story and see how the opening pages, set outside, have an organic feel to them. It’s in strong contrast to what comes next, which is almost entirely industrial, technological, and indoors. Let’s go!
