This page is all about momentum. The pace quickens, with action across each panel. I like how Samir structured this, with the bottom 3 panels making for quick cuts. We’re in a frenzied chase scene as our heroes try to plow through the opposition and make their way to their goal.
You’ll notice a recurring element in panel 1 – Laura’s continual struggle with the seduction of power that comes with being LadyDarke. This has been present since issue 1. The more she surrenders to the raw power being LadyDarke gives her, the more of her true self slips away. Or was LadyDarke her true self all along? That’s the basic core struggle the DARKE BEGINNINGS story tackles.
It’s probably a mental relic imbibed in me from old video games, but I’m a sucker for a good keycard prop. Here it’s shown in panels 3 and 4, getting LadyDarke and Wulf into the next scene.
BloodFyst is ahead, and Shadow Shot is coming up behind them, with goons a-plenty in the middle.
